Michael Allen
Michael Allen studied percussion and piano at the Guildhall School of music and Drama. In 2006 he was awarded a student fellowship and has recently completed the Guildhall Artists program with distinction. Michael performs throughout the UK and Europe with various orchestras and ensembles with appearances at Rhythmsticks Festival, BBC John Cage Festival, Cheltenham and Bath Festivals, Birmingham Opera, Sibelius Hall, Musikverein and other leading concert halls. As a soloist Michael has given performances at the Anghiari Festival in Italy, joined the renowned cellist Raphael Walfisch in the UK premiere of Parabola Concertante by Rodion Schedrin and given the world premiere of Warp by Cameron Sinclair at the Wigmore Hall. Michael was the principal percussionist for Southbank Sinfonia 5 and is a member of the drums and percussion faculty at Colchester Institute.
